2011-2012 Executive Board
Bobby Hodgson (Co-President)
Bobby is a 3L. He grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut, graduated in 2005 from Harvard College with a degree in Literature, and had jobs in theater and politics before entering law school. Outside of HLS Lambda, Bobby is involved in the Tenant Advocacy Project, the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, and the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. He’s spending his summer working at the NYCLU.
Erik Graham Smith (Co-President)
Hilary Thrasher (Co-Political Chair)
Hilary is a 3L who has lived in the metro Boston area for her entire life, except for a two-year escape across the pond after college. Between college and law school she completed a master’s degree in history, spent one year working as a librarian, and then another year at a small environmental organization. She is hoping to focus on international law and has been excited to get involved with Lambda as a Political Co-Political Chair this year. Her non-law school interests include lemurs, cooking, travel, and obscure religious history.
Danielle Purifoy (Co-Political Chair)
Danielle Purifoy is a 3L from Durham, North Carolina. She graduated from Vassar College in 2006 with a degree in English and Political Science. After Vassar, Danielle spent one year working as a service leader with City Year Louisiana and two years working as a Mayoral Fellow and Environmental Projects Coordinator for the City of New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Recovery and Development Administration. This year, she hopes to build better partnerships between Lambda and other campus affinity groups. Other interests include reading, creative writing, running, food, dogs, and travel.
Kate Epstein (Co-Political Chair)
Kate is a 2L from Massachusetts and was an anthropology major at Bowdoin College in Maine. At HLS, she is also involved with the Student Association of Law & Mind Sciences (SALMS), the American Constitution Society HLS chapter, and the Harvard Law and Policy Review. She is excited to bring a variety of interesting speakers and events to HLS during the 2011-2012 school year!

Josh is a 2L from Florida and was a political science and philosophy major at The George Washington University in Washington DC. Outside of Lambda, Josh will also be involved with the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. He previously served as one of Lambda’s 1L representatives, and is excited to be on the board again for the 2011-2012 school year!
Samara Fox (Firm Liaison)
Sam is a 2L from Montreal and was an psychology major at Yale. She spent the year before coming to law school working for the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Health. At HLS, she is also involved with the Harvard Law and Health Care Society, the Health Law and Policy Clinic and Advocates for Human Right. She plays rugby with the Harvard College women’s team and is an undegraduate non-res tutor for Quincy House. She is also a joint MPH student at the Harvard School of Public Health and is spending the summer working at Immigration Equality and taking public health classes.
Sam Levine (Web, Communications, and Alumni)
Sam hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to coming to HLS, he spent a year at City Year, an AmeriCorps program, where he worked in an elementary school on Chicago’s South Side. Outside of Lambda, Sam is involved with Project No One Leaves, the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, and the Journal on Legislation. He previously served as one of Lambda’s Political Chairs.
